How do I know if I need a replacement or repair?
Our certified master installers are able to repair chips and cracks very effectively as long as it is no larger than a quarter diameter. Repair removes shadows and restores their appearance back to 85%. However, it can leave a small "scar" at the site of the damage, which some people find distracting. Keep this issue in mind when making your choice to repair or replace your windshield.

Cracks or breaks in the driver's line of sight are distracting, and can be dangerous if not corrected. If your damage is located within this area (8.5 X 11 inches), you should have your windshield replaced.

Windshield replacement at Omni Auto Glass is always done to OEM standards, and involves using US-made safety glass. Our high-quality safety glass is manufactured to reduce flying glass and occupant ejection from the vehicle in collisions.

Types of Windshield Chips:

Bullseye - looks just like it sounds, a small dark circle. The bullseye has the most potential of developing into a crack because the air inside can expand when the weather conditions are right. There is a cone inside of the first layer of glass, that has been produced usually by the object that you hit, in most cases a round edge of a rock.
Star break - Usually the star is a little more stable than a bullseye, but don't bet that it won't crack on out. Its only advantage is that it has stopped for a while, and has little air to expand under temperature changes.
Combination - Easy to see, both a Bullseye and a star. Caused by hi-velocity and weight. The danger is that you have all of the right things going for a crack to develop.
